Executive Director for Non-profit Agency | Full time w/ benefits The Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ESCADV) is seeking a passionate, innovative, and professional to lead the organization. The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the financial and operational management of ESCADV, including overseeing delivery of services, program administration, and the Hope Harbor campus. The Executive Director has overall responsibility for the organization’s advocates, shelter staff, and administrative personnel. The ED is responsible building and managing a budget that ensures the financial health and security of the organization. The ED is the public face of the organization, coordinates community outreach and works in collaboration with community partners to provide effective coordination of services. The ED coordinates fund development and donor relations. Overall, the ED directly supervises 4 FTEs with a total staff of ten and reports to the Board of Directors. Due to the nature of the position and related tasks, the majority of the job is best performed onsite in order to foster collaboration and teamwork. Flex scheduling is occasionally possible, including telecommuting but only after initial probationary period and in conjunction with the supervisor’s support.Key Responsibilities: Administrative Oversight: Supervise and support the advocate supervisor and the facilities/shelter manager through team building, consistent communication, feedback, evaluations, and training. Assess employees’ skills needed to perform duties and provide training when needed. Ensure that staff members are working as a team with clear communication and conflict resolution practices implemented. Develop and oversee a volunteer program that engages volunteers in tasks that can benefit the needs of ESCADV. Lead ESCADV to ensure services are appropriate and meet community needs. Utilize best practices knowledge to implement services using appropriate policies and practices. Ensure the policies and procedures of the organization are clearly defined, current, and adhered to by all employees and volunteers affiliated with the organization. Manage and Maintain ESCADV Funding and Finances: Seek funds to support ESCADV’s mission. Ensure the completeness and submission of appropriate documentation to obtain and maintain awarded grants. Develop the organization’s budget and ensure that finances are managed and bookkeeping is accurate. Develop and maintain relationships with potential and current donors including individuals, businesses and organizations. Support and encourage future contributions from major donors. Continue to grow ESCADV’s donor pool and recognize these contributions within the community. Coordinate donor relations. External Representation of ESCADV: Represent ESCADV in the community including community engagement, public speaking, fund raising, media, social media, and committee representation. Liaison with the legal community. Founded forty years ago, the Eastern Shore Coalition Against Domestic Violence continues to be the only provider of services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. This crucial organization supports and advocates for the rights and protection of victims/survivors of stalking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and dating violence through crisis intervention and prevention service, advocacy, safe shelter, counseling, and education. Hope Harbor is the Coalition’s five-acre campus with three buildings: a 35-bed shelter for adult and youth victims, a building for advocates and office staff, and apartments for transitional and workforce housing (opening June 2024). Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, finance, public administration, leadership studies, human services, social work, behavioral science, or a related field required. 3 years’ experience in organizational leadership positions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Financial management experience including developing and managing a budget Successful criminal background check, DMV records check and valid driver’s license Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree 4 or more years’ experience in organizational leadership positions Fund development experience, including grant management Prior management experience with a non-profit organization For questions, or to request accommodation, please contact: XXXX@escadv.org
