Locations: VA - McLean, United States of America, McLean, VirginiaSenior Instructional Designer, Tech CollegeAs a member of the Learning Design & Delivery team for Tech College, the Instructional Designer will be responsible for partnering closely with Principal Learning Consultants to design learning experiences that ensure new skills are successfully transferred to on-the-job performance. An individual in this role will build self-paced e-learnings, practice-based ILTs, and other creative modalities for learning transfer, with a focus (though not exclusively) on digital-first learning methods. This role will also focus on collaborating with other Instructional Designers within both Tech College and the broader group of Colleges within the Job Family Learning team, in order to streamline processes, share best practices, and stay up to date on emerging evidence-based learning & tech trends.This role is a great fit for you if:You have expertise in adult learning theory, cognitive science, and other evidence-based learning fields, with a passion for staying on top of the latest research developmentsYou take delight in finding the best learning design for a specific learning need and have experience with course authoring toolsYou know how to balance learning best practices with business needs & constraints, using good judgment in balancing both quality & efficiencyYou value creating learning experiences that are both effective and engaging, solving business needs while delighting and engaging the learnerKey ResponsibilitiesPartner with Principal Learning Consultants to own the design for specific programs and stand-alone offerings that support the learning & performance needs of associates in Capital One's Tech organizationComplement the needs analysis process by identifying the additional context that will help to ensure successful transfer of skills to the jobIncrease the effectiveness of learning solutions by identifying and recommending format/modalities that create an optimal learning experience and demonstrate an understanding of adult learning principlesDesign and develop curriculum, programs, learning materials, and performance support tools (including self-study, classroom, e-Learning, etc.) based on industry design standards for a given modality (includes traditional, web, and mobile design)Demonstrate an aptitude for, knowledge of, and agility with new learning technologiesRepresent the Tech College Learning Design & Delivery team in broader project efforts, ensuring that the end-to-end of the learning experience is considered alongside project timeline goalsEngage with project team members to enable clarity of goal; conduct on-going reviews to ensure outcome is on track to meet client needsPartner with other Instructional Designers and Learning Consultants on the team to support the ADDIE process, as appropriateCreate evidence-based assessments and evaluation methodsAssume personal responsibility for projects and follow-through to completion with minimal need for direct supervisionWe recognize that many life paths can contribute to interest in this role. We value all experience, whether gained in a classroom or through other paths, and invite everyone who meets the below requirements to apply for this role.Basic QualificationsHigh School Diploma, GED or equivalent certificationAt least 2 years of experience in Instructional DesignAt least 2 years of experience with learning content development tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Adobe Design Suite, and Camtasia)Preferred QualificationsAt least 3 years of Instructional Design for digital modalitiesAt least one year of experience in UI/UX and graphic designAt least one year of experience with mobile content creation, curation and deliveryAt least one year of experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and video editing software) At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
